Normally a noble wizard, this time Merlin sought to subjugate the world of Harmony, using an ancient Shadow Spell that allowed him to manipulate emotions, sowing discord among the inhabitants. The spell subtly influenced the melodies and harmonies that governed the land, creating dissonance and disharmony.

Realising the threat from Merlin, My Melody and Kuromi joined forces to find him and stop his villainy. The melodies sung by My Melody could soothe the most restless spirits, while Kuromi's rhythms could energize and motivate their allies.
During their journey, they met other residents of Harmony who had suffered from the curse, which strengthened their resolve to fight not just for themselves, but for the entire world. They encountered Badtz-Maru, a mischievous penguin whose usual pranks had turned dark and mean-spirited under the spell's influence. Together, they managed to restore his true nature with the power of music and friendship.
